Deleted Items pop up is driving me nuts

every time i close outlook express email i get this pop up: "Do you want to permanently delete all items and subfolders in the "deleted items" folder for all accounts?"my options are yes or no. but I don't want to have to do this every time I close email. does anyone know how to get rid of this pop up? it's driving me nuts. thank you!
