The closest phrases I can think of are either, Live and let live, or He who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Neither deal specifically with the slaughter of innocents though.

I am not a native speaker, but major in English. In my opinion, there are some thing wrong with you saying. First, what the meaning of death knell? By the way,it maybe not rhyme.
