Also, for the mom going through the "change", The Three Faces of Eve would not be a good choice.

A film adaptation of "Oedipus Rex" might be a fun mother-son outing.

There is always a chance to rent "Murmur of the Heart" and cuddle while watching it.

If you want to see "The Mother of all mothers", watch Angela Lansbury, in "The Manchurian Candidate".......................but not with mom!

What a stupid idea remaking that film. The black-and-white made it seem even more authentic. I'm sure the remake will be an exercise in egotistical futility.

Actually, considering the current political situation, it seems a very good time to do such a film. Shocked

I could be wrong -- Jonathan Demme direction with Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep. I don't doubt Demme will use muted, filetered color in the cinematography which could work. The cast is first rate.

The previews suggested it is a very much updated story.

Thanks for the "heads up". I was not aware that the film was being remade. After seeing a clip on the internet, I wonder whether this flick will have the impact of the original. Streep does not seem to exude the chilling horror that Lansbury did.

For anyone who has not seen the original, I would suggest that you go out and rent it. It is an extremely effective film!

It is a four star classic film, Phoenix and although I can be encouraged that Demme is directing the remake, I wonder.

I'm not getting the title corresponding to soldiers being kidnapped during the Gulf War.

I think its becasue the phrase "Manchurial Cnadidate" has entered the English language as slang for a political candidate who has been co-opted by foreign powers (see: the Republican Party). Wink

Speaking of "I Remember Mama" which was GOOD, there was an el cheapo drive-in movie called "I Dismember Mama".

I should have remembered that, hobitbob. I'm sure they explain that in the film for those who haven't seen the first and are not savvy about the definition.
