Car registration and scraping problem

I bought a car last October but for cheaper insurance the car was put into my fathers name with me as a named driver on his policy
since then my relationship with my father has broken down and i moved to my mums.
the car has failed the MOT miserably and my dad wants the car back even though it was my money that paid for it and i have been offered £150 as scrap for it
my father wont give me the log book so i cant scrap it
and he expects me to simply give him the car for nothing
I need the money to pay off bills for the car and due to me being a student i have no other way of paying the bill
its causing me immense stress and its making me ill
what can i do ?
