@Opsimath,
Quote from Ludwig the ringleader of the conspirators in the Grand Duke. " As disagreeable as it is to eat SAUSAGES to order, those who criticize the requirement are traitors to the cause."

@gumpy01,
Yes, I have solved it. You will get the answer by looking at positions of letters in the alphabet ie B equals 2nd letter E = 5th letter etc and working it out from there.

Could you put me out of my misery and offer a clue to Question 5 the late 19th century opera where Sausages play an important part in proceedings?

I just cannot find this anywhere! only Sausage Rolls in the Grand Duke 1896!

@sophocles,
Don't think any of us really knows the answer to Q5.It may be The Grand Duke or La Boheme or an opera none of us have found yet.Re the distance question, perhaps you could give us a little more to go on Sophocles.

Thanks but still can't make any of the numbers fit. Nothing yet on Q5.

@sophocles,
I will now throw another opera into the mix for consideration.Hansel and Gretel 1892 by Engelbert Humperdinck.

@Opsimath,
I think "an important part in the proceedings" might exclude this one?
Perhaps we need to look for a type of sausage such as a frankfurter?
Still struggling on A, B and C in 33 despite the hints.

@Opsimath,
Sophocles is right about 24.
181 being a prime number has to be 'calculated' by adding or subtracting two numbers that are made up from groups of letters.
I feel like its my turn to say its easy and I saw it straight away. Shame I can't see the 'easy' links in 33. Perhaps I have the wrong words for A, B and C.

I'm sure your hint for 33 will make sense to me one day :-). or least confirm I have it right when I get an answer.

@Opsimath,
Try looking at groups of letters such as vowels and consonants.

@Opsimath,
I have seen problems like this when you have to compare capitals that are made up of straight lines with those that have non-straight lines.
But this is definitely vowels and consonants.
Don't try and take a round or triangular view of the letters, try another shape! You should get it now.
A little more help with the meaning of capitals in 33? Going round in circles with animals, countries, rivers and capitals. I need a thicker penny to drop here!

@Opsimath,
thank you. I had the wrong river! it's obvious now :-).
24) - letters = numbers, don't cube them! Go from there with previous hints.
