Hello,
I am new here! I am interested in purchasing a bracelet. It is from the 50's. It is brass and Chalcedony Moonstone Open-Back Glass High-Domed Cabochons. It is in beautiful condition and is $75.oo. I am a little confused as I am researching, chalcedony is an actual stone and this description says glass. I was wondering if it was worth the price? Could anyone help me?
Thanks,
KAP
@KAP,
Chalcedony is one of the quartz minerals, of course, but if the seller says it is glass, I would take their word for it and assume it is an imitation. Sounds like an honest seller, so if you like it; buy it. Being brass, it might discolor your skin.
@roger,
Hi Roger - Thank you for your reply!
@KAP,
Kasp, chalcedony is an oft grayish amorphous quartz "...a microfibrous microcrystaline with a fibrous structure," forming "from watery silica gels at relatively low temperatures" which when colored by minerals can be beautiful, but the term "glass" raises suspicions
