Help with rain soft ec4 water softener

Last time my softener quit working, meaning our water is no longer soft, I called a service tech. He showed up, and cleaned an orifice I believe he said on the inlet. He said the inlet was plugged up, and water was just bypassing the system. We just had a sprinkler system installed, and they had to shut off the water to do so. After that, our water is no longer soft. I think they may have gotten some dirt in the line and plugged it up again. I did not watch the tech clean the inlet last time, but I went out there and took it apart as best as I knew how. I did not find any orifice on the inlet side. I did find a little scree, that was clean. With water running in the house, I can hear it trickling through the back of the softener where the valves are. Any help would be appreciated.
