Our hearts beat for our very life to live, but its deeper purpose is our life to love.
Question is about "its"...should I use singular "heart beats" if I use "its"....or plural "hearts beat" also works with "its"...thanks a lot!

@1jane1,
Its is a singular possessive. Use it with 'heart beats'.
The interesting thing about the idea is you could be representing a collective heart as a singular entity.
Somehow, I dislike the sound of "Our hearts beat for our very life to live, but their deeper purpose is our life to love."
