Band of Gold - Freda Payne

o.k. - i am truly ashamed Embarrassed - I'm listening to Delilah - and I know almost every schmalzy song she's playing. I don't like some of them (Celine - blecccccchhhhhh), but I know them and can holler along with them. Poor dogs.

'Cause I am your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can

Leo Sayer~~You make me feel like dancing

What a gay song that was. I even question my own manhood when I remember how much I used to love that one.

o.k. i couldn't resist lowering the level here to that of a philosophical observation (even though you and i are all having such fun);

i notice that old songs that i never gave a thought to, and would have put down in a heartbeat had my opinion been asked, are getting quickly under my skin lately when i hear a little clip.
This is, of course, because they where, whether i like it or not, the 'background music' to my life - the 'elevator music' to the ups and downs of my worldly status, the 'dirges' of my failures, the 'celebrations' of my successes, the 'love themes' of my romances, the 'overtures' to my adventures.

Poetically expressed, Bo. Hate to say I told 'ya.

And Long Black Veil is a haunting song. I don't apologize for that, either.

Both you and panz ought to check out Michael Buble. Fantastic voice with all the beauty of yesteryear.

"Gee, there's something untoward about that comment"

Not favorable; unpropitious.
Troublesome; adverse: an untoward incident.
Hard to guide or control; unruly.
Improper; unseemly.
Archaic. Awkward.

Help me out here.

Letty, been following Buble closely...he's happening

Clyde by J J Cale
Clyde plays electric bass
Plays it with finesse and grace
Sit on the porch without no shoes
A-picking the bass and singing the blues
Misery loves company
And his old dog sings harmony
Tambourine tied to his tail
You can hear him moan, you can hear him wail
Jody May, she got a dollar
Down the road you can hear her holler
"Get up Clyde, we got something to do
That old dog can sing the blues"
He don't move, he don't flinch
Clyde, he don't move an inch
Just sit on the porch without no shoes
Picking his bass and singing the blues

I've read mixed reviews but I'd give it three stars out four. I love her voice and because a CD contains many songs, it's misleading when one reads reviews because they are judging the entire CD.

Hey doglover, don't let Dys or panzade give you a hard time or they'll start enjoying themselves too much. Dys is still giving me a hard time for Barry Manilow. Sigh.

Anybody into cowboy songs? Ghost Riders in the Sky; Empty Saddles; Don't Fence Me In; Twilight on the Trail. Most are sort of schmaltzy, but I will always love them.

Ah, Beedle did Ghost Riders in the Sky because of Ambrose Bierce's Horseman in the Sky.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine.
In the pale moonlight,
Our hearts entwined,
She carved her name and I carved mine,

Oh, June like the mountains I'm blue,
Like the Pines,
I am lonesome for you.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine.

Wish I could remember "...oh, I'm packed to travel and I'm scratching gravel, for my Blue Ridge Mountain home...."

Shocked I'm supposed to be embarrassed about that one? Embarrassed
Okay, no laughing now. Embarrassed I still remember the words to every song on Air Supply's Greatest Hits.

Also, I have not choice but to smile every time I here this:

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull up tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

(LA face with Oakland booty)
Baby got back!

[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like 'em round, and big
And when I'm throwin' a gig
I just can't help myself, I'm actin' like an animal
Now here's my scandal
I wanna get you home
And ugh, double-up, ugh, ugh
I ain't talkin' bout Playboy
'Cause silicone parts are made for toys
I want 'em real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mix-a-Lot's in trouble
Beggin' for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Watchin' these bimbos walkin' like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sistas, I wanna get with ya
I won't cuss or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna ******
Til the break of dawn
Baby got it goin' on
A lot of simps won't like this song
'Cause them punks like to hit it and quit it
And I'd rather stay and play
'Cause I'm long, and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on
So, ladies! {Yeah!} Ladies! {Yeah}
If you wanna role in my Mercedes {Yeah!}
Then turn around! Stick it out!
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back!

Baby got back!
Yeah, baby ... when it comes to females, Cosmo ain't got nothin'
to do with my selection. 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3".

[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none
Unless you've got buns, hun
You can do side bends or sit-ups,
But please don't lose that butt
Some brothers wanna play that "hard" role
And tell you that the butt ain't go
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So Cosmo says you're fat
Well I ain't down with that!
'Cause your waste is small and your curves are kickin'
And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'
To the beanpole dames in the magazines:
You ain't it, Miss Thing!
Give me a sista, I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
'Cause his girls are on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And I pull up quick to get wit 'em
So ladies, if the butt is round,
And you want a triple X throw down,
Dial 1-900-MIXALOT
And kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back!

(Little in the middle but she got much back) [4x]
