Ashamed you like a song

Has there ever been a song you liked but were ashamed to admit it ?

Like the guys in the Toyota commercial (I think it's Toyota commercial)where the one guy is singing shamelessly the Shania Twain song "Man I Feel Like A Woman".

I'll start.

I am Woman by Helen Reddy. I remember being ridiculed because of it when I told someone.

I always sing along in the car. Just love that Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

My son has threatened to jump out of the car while it is still moving.

Artist: The Foundations
Song:Build Me Up Buttercup

Lyrics:

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down)and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

"I'll be over at ten", you told me time and again
But you're late, I wait around and then (bah-dah-dah)
I run to the door, I can't take any more
It's not you, you let me down again

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time, and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

You were my toy but I could be the boy you adore
If you'd just let me know (bah-dah-dah)
Although you're untrue, I'm attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

I-I-I need you-oo-oo more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

I have a CD of two Tom Lehrer albums in my car. When I can't stand what is on talk radio, I will put it on, and sing along with it.

Hey. I like this one by Barry Manilow:

You remind me, I live in a shell
Safe from the past and doing okay
But not very well
No jolts, no surprises,
No crisis arises, my life goes along as it should
It`s all very nice but not very good

And I'm ready to take a chance again
Ready to put my love on the line
With you...
Been living with nothing to show for it
You get what you get when you go for it
And I'm ready to take a chance again with you

When she left me, in all my despair
I just held on, my hopes were all gone
Then I found you there

And I'm ready to take a chance again
Ready to put my love on the line
With you
Been living with nothing to show for it
You get what you get when you go for it
And I'm ready to take a chance again,
Ready to put my love on the line
With you
Been living with nothing to show for it
You get what you get when you go for it
And I'm ready to take a chance again
Ready to take a chance again, with you.....
With you

Sorta ashamed that I liked a White Zombie tune I heard driving back from North Carolina.

You have so many relationships in this life
Only one or two will last
You go through all this pain and strife
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast
And they're gone so fast
So hold on the ones who really care
In the end they'll be the only ones there
When you get old and start losing your hair
Can you tell me who will still care
Can you tell me who will still care

Mmm bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du

Plant a seed, plant a flower, plant a rose
You can plant any one of those
Keep planting to find out which one grows
It's a secret no one knows
It's a secret no one knows

In an mmm bop they're gone, in an mmm bop they're not there
In an mmm bop they're gone, in an mmm bop they're not there
Until you lose your hair
But you don't care

Mmm bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du

Can you tell me? You say you can but you don't know
Can you tell me which flower's going to grow?
Can you tell me if it's going to be a daisy or a rose?

Can you tell me which flower's going to grow?
Can you tell me? You say you can but you don't know

<sadly, i'm not as shamed as i perhaps should be>

Oh, my Gawd, panzade. I love "I'd Really Love to see you tonight" One of the few songs that I have saved on my computer. No apologies at all for that one.

Letty, any chance you have Ambrosia in your computer? Another one of my guilty pleasures.
"Biggest part of me"
"Holdin on to yesterday"

Somewhere in my hundreds of CD's there's an "ABBA's Greatest Hits." Hangover from the 70's but they really don't give me a headache at least.

My cyber friends. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to speak music. When I taught, I used to use it as a teaching tool.

Panz, about the only thing I know about Ambrosia lies in the mythology of my mind, but you can bet your arse, I'm gonna check it out.

T'were it not for the outlet of poetry and music, I think I might melt away in a pool of water.(resident witch, ya know)

Cerealkiller. You touched a nerve with this thread. Thank you, my friend.

Now I must do real world stuff.

goodnight from my little corner of Florida..but as a swan song:

I Can see that there's no room for me,
You're only holding out your arms in sympathy.
If There's another man,
Go on and take his hand,
You know I'll understand,
But don't you worry 'bout me.

and then there's the other version:

Don't Worry 'bout me..
I'll get along,
Forget about me, be happy my love.

We know that our little show is over and so
The story ends,
Why not call it a day,
The sensible way,
And still be friends.

Look out for yourself,
Should always be the rule.
Give your heart and your soul
To whomever you love,
Don't be a fool.

Darling, why should you cling,
to some fading thing
That used to be.

Look out for yourself,
Don't you worry bout me.

EhBeth. Bet hamburger knows them all.
