Mark Burnett has the Formula for the unscripted drama/adventures series??
Eco-Challenge
Survivor
The Apprentice
The Restaurant (coming very soon)
Unscripted? I'm not too sure about that.
Heavily edited and too obviously often staged, these shows are reality only in one's mind. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is also "unscripted" but there is a storyline. I'm not willing to swallow any of these shows as candid or believable. There's a smell of rotting Cod that's difficult to ignore.
Not to say I don't enjoy some of them. Obviously I've followed "The Apprentice" but if you're cognitive of the dramatic manipulations, you take it all with a grain of salt. That's also not to say that some of them don't lead to actual reality -- Bill on "The Apprentice" may indeed become an effective manager but as I've said on that thread, he won't be left to his own devices entirely. In many ways what they've concocted is soap opera with a reality base.
