I recently read a claim that Eliot Spitzer is a blackmailer. Is there a basis for the claim?

@gollum,
Well he hasn't been thrown in jail for being found guilty on the charges of blackmail. He never faced legal charges of blackmail. So technically, there is no basis to that claim.

Technically, this unsubstantiated rumor is slander or libel (depending on your source ... which you haven't given ...).

@tsarstepan,
My source is the New York Post.

My question is not was he convicted of blackmailing. It is what is the basis of the allegation?
