If your opponent can't return an inbounds shuttlecock, a point is scored, and the first to score 20 points wins.
I give my wife 10 points and she wins about 2 out of 10 games.
I went through rackets so fast that I started using a tennis racket with about six inches cut off the handle. Just love chasing down those shuttlecocks, and dropping one just over the net at the far right or left.
The shuttlecock shown is plastic, but it's tough as nails and floats like a butterfly :-)
