For me, the ear worm of all ear worms is "PINEAPPLE PRINCESS, song by the late Annette Funicello. This is , IMHO, the most annoying song ever recorded (even worse than " Hospitaal Hospitaal, I like it I like it)
Whats yours?
Chicago did a parody of Small World called It's a Real World After All. It were hilarious.

I think it's whatever has lodged itself in your head at the moment. This is what's going round mine at the moment.

I have recently been plagued by "One Tin Soldier" recently. Usually, you can banish an ear worm by just listening to the song. I did that, and it didn't work. I'll just have to hope it wears off with time. I wish i hadn't mentioned it, though, because now it's lodged in my head again.
That's what they do. I wsh I understood why. Ive often been plagued by one when Im doing something that involves physical exertion. In thse times I use em like a "chain gang" song and pretty soon Im using an earworm for cadence

It's funny how they work, too. I just posted "Brown-eyed Handsome Man" by Chuck Berry in the geezer's music thread. Although the songs as not exactly alike, the Beach Boys use the same opening guitar riff for "Surfin' USA." Now i have the latter stuck in my mind.
Interesting thread. As a musician that has to learn new songs constantly they are a part of every day life...but now that I'm thinking about it I can't recall any.
Wasn't there a time when males walking along would whistle a tune, and the tune was something that bubbled up from his unconscious. A dormant earworm? Meaning, earworms may not have always had a negative connotation, at least for men. And, many women used to make housework less boring by singing.
Is the negative attitude towards earworms a reflection of our rushed society. No time to hum, whistle, or sing a song? If one hums, whistles, or sings a song, the "bad" earworms are just replaced by a "good" earworm.
Naturally, I do not believe anyone will agree with me on this.
Obviousy when we give it a name like"earworm" weve already made a decision about a songs value. Having a song"bubble up" is not the problem, having it not go away in your head after its useful contribution, is.

@panzade,
When I played keyboard I was always repeating riffs and passages from melodies I heard . Sometimes these would become annoying, especially standards.
I almost wish I hadn't come across this thread! I started thinking about what songs were my own personal earworms - ouch, now I have two going round in my head - My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas is one of them - driving me crazy -
