It's not a matter of taste, but survival.

Simple moral issues:
- What if your genetically modified son hates his blue eyes and blond hair? (as he'll probably do)
- What if he looks at you and your wife as not his real parents? What if you start looking at him as some stranger's kid? (logical, since he would have very few genes from you, you won't 'see yourself' in him and vice versa)
- Do you feel comfortable about thinking of your future kid as a scientific experiment or 'project'?
- What if he gets gravely sick or dumb because the genetic manipulation goes badly wrong? Will you scrap him and try again?
- What if 90% of people chose to have boys, and no girls? (this is actually becoming a problem in some countries)

I'd rather not go through these issues and have my kids the natural way. They still don't like this or that in their body, but it's not my fault. And they won't die just because some genetic wizard fucked up.

Have your arian kids if you like. It's easy: just ask some German to screw your wife.

Nor did I say you were antisemite. But I do think eugenics deserve all the bad rap they got from their association with Nazism.

Re. your personal taste, the problem is: if eugenics become a technical and legal possibility, almost EVERYBODY will go for the same fashionable looks, and that would mean a reduction of human biodiversity. In a few generations we'll all look the same. Look at how women doing nose jobs all chose the same straight, impersonal profile. It's not like some chose a potato nose and others a flat nose and yet others an aquiline one... We are all fashion victims.

The same as my disliking being more darkly complected.
At age 8, I was exposed to more sunlight than I liked
and I was very abruptly darkened. I did not like that.
I never completely recovered from it; that 's not fun.
When the other kids my age in the naborhood got really mad,
thay used to accuse me of being "an Indian or a Mexican."
If my blond son hated it, he 'd be no worse off than I was
at having brown eyes n black hair.

because his genes wud be ours, in improved form, not any stranger.
We 'd be fully his real parents.

I just disliked my looks
since age 8, and I wished for better.
A few days ago, I met a friend's 19 year old grandson and I sold him
some real estate. He looked like a Viking. I cud not help but wish,
in retrospect, that I had looked like he did. I 'd have liked that.

By the way Walter, what's the date on this bilingual document? 1810? 1870? I guess 1810 would explain the use of French on a Westphalian admin document + the reference to Jerome Napoleon, brother of the 'little corporal'.
