Brands of Red Hair Dye

For awhile now I've been wanting to go red. I have dark brown curly long hair. I don't want bright red hair but I want more of a deep red. I am avoiding bleach completely including L'Oreal Hi-Color. I was wondering about you all's experience with dyes and what you recommend I should use. I also would like to know about pravana vivid colors because I've heard great reviews and was wondering if it was worth it.
