Anyone see Turnbull on #QandA on Monday night. Has truly/sadly lost all credibility. I wonder if he has a Kirribilli agreement with Abbott?
I not also that that the paid parental leave proposal has dropped the threshhold to 100k - I wonder if that's low enough for the greens to pass it through the senate?
It still seems like a strange priority. Yes ladies, you can have a year off with full pay to look after your infant and then come back to work. Of course day care is still hard to get and inordinately expensive so it's hardly worth it unless you are on a decent wage (70k plus?) and you'll need gobs of it until child is school age.
Also wonder if Tony as factored in the cost to the public service of all those APS6 and EL2s being paid full time while not at work and paying someone else to do their jobs? Can't tax business to pay for public servants' PPL I wouldn't have thought. APS has 167,527 employees mid 2013 - with 58% being women. That demographic problably translates similarly to the entire
public sector of around 2 million employees. With the burden of funding PPL on the already threatened budgets of the state, health and educational institutions - for starters.
