Do you believe air-traffic controllers could possibly be changed by computers?

I'm annually and half from entering school, and intend to eventually become an ATC after I graduate. I've met a variety of ATCs within the last several years, and requested them all this same issue, and they've had a variety of responses to the issue. I only needed to understand everything you men believe.

Furthermore, the length of time does one believe that it will require, for commercial pilots to become either operating in the floor or changed completely?

@lieslucky,
It goes without saying that ATC has changed and will be changed further by computerization, and in situ pilots could theoretically become redundant. However, it is psychologically unlikely that we would be keen on relinquishing overall control of air transport and compromises will be reached between relative control allocation.

@Setanta,
He's probably seen that Star Trek episode where the replicator technology is stolen by the big blokes with unkempt ginger hair. It all goes wrong and various parts of their anatomies get melded to the machinery.
Anyway , that Voyager captain bird with the squeaky voice sorts it all out just in time for the end titles.

I have way too much time on my hands.....

@Setanta,

I've assumed "floor" = "arena"
