What is this throat infection?

My whole life I've had problems with my tonsils getting swollen and painful, but it happened at absolute most twice a year. In June I started feeling the pain coming on, but this time it was much worse. I took a look at them with the flash on my phone and they were huge with white patches. I went to the ER and was tested for strep throat, mono, came up negative. I was diagnosed with acute tonsillitis and they gave me antibiotics.
I took three a day for ten days, and while the swelling, pain, and most white patches went away, they still look like this almost three months later

I've been gargling salt water and even added a bit of hydrogen peroxide and nothing so far has helped, I'm not even sure what this is anymore please if you have any idea what it is/what I can do, help!

I've asked my mother to schedule a doctor's appointment but she's been very hesitant because it's not clear whether I have medical insurance or not

@spl000sh,
Whether you've got insurance or not, it sounds like you're still sick.
