His 37 miracles were his 'credentials'!

@Frank Apisa,
You say that simply because that supports your point of view. So be it.

@Wilso,
Just flew in for some unconditional happiness.

Reminds me of the time I was confronted in the shower with why are you singing about "that's what a penis is"?

No...I say it because Wilso summed up igm's thoughts much better than your suggestion that the summation was wrong.

But apparently you are not going to get that. So be it.

What if our religion was each other
If our practice was our life
If prayer, our words.
What if the temple was the earth
If forests were our church
If holy water - the rivers, lakes, and oceans
What if meditation was our relationships
If the Teacher was life
If wisdom was self-knowledge
If love was the center of our being

I have a question for you igm

If the Buddha's teaching work, why are there no living Buddhas around? I have never met one. I have seen a lot who try to claim to be but they really don't reflect what the Buddha taught. I see them wearing Rolex watches and owning BMWs and taking expensive trips around the world.

Surely if the Dharma works there should be thousands, hundreds of thousands of living Buddhas, but I have not met a single one. Why is that?

@Krumple,
Krumple, as I understand it we are all Buddhas, although most of us act either as if we were not or as if we are striving to become one. Siddartha awakened to (recognized) his Buddha mind/original nature/"true self" (which is not the same as his psychological ego), and when we ritually bow to the image/idea of the Buddha (as well as the Dharma and our Sangha) we are bowing not to the historical "Buddha" but to his original mind which is also bowing to our own Buddha nature which we must come to recognize as he did. I've known many Buddhas--including you.
