Radio Shack Radar Detector performance?

Hey Whats up everyone, I just recently bought a Radio Shack Radar Detector, the model number is 22-1695. I still have the option to return it within 30 days if I don't like it. I was just wondering how Radio Shack's Detectors stack up to everyone elses. I have found several websites that test radar detectors but none that tested Radio Shack's. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. Thank You.

I have a friend who spent mucho peneienzies on a very fast sports car. He even had a cabinet maker install a burlwood case for a radar/kaser detector. It was really neat. Thhe guy got nailed for speeding by plane. Seems he was the only driver in a multi colored custom vette on that section of I-80. what a doosh

Opinions are opinions, but I'll offer mine. The components required to assemble a reasonably adequate radar detector yourself come to more than the retail price of that unit. That by itself may not mean much, but reviews of radar detectors, such as that published annually by Road&Track Magazine, Motor Trend, and others, as well as web-based radar detector reviews either ignore the RadioShack products, or rate them at the bottom of the pile. I've never seen a sub-$100 radar detector receive even marginally acceptable reviews. Personally, my choice is the Escort brand Passport 8500 model. About 6 times the price of the one you mention, but it is uniformly top-rated by all institutional reviewers, and it works.

Thanks a lot guys, I have since that post searched those reviews and decided to return the Radio-Shack one after this road trip I'm taking. I also bought a PNI Silver Bullet RX7500 on ebay for 100 dollars wich I will use when I get it. They sell for about 190 usualy, and from what I"ve found have very positive reviews: http://www.radar-detectors.com/products/pni/silver_bullet_RX7500.asp

... The first radar detector that can defeat the Spectre I RDD. This unit also has outstanding range for being a cordless detector and false alerts are very low...
