I liked that bit as well. The age of technology, eh?
What surprised me was the repeated mention of the god awful manufactured One Direction.
Are they big in the USA as well? I'm pleased to announce that I know little or nothing sbout them.
Yes, a Simon Cowell induced quadruplet or even quintuplet delivery of drivel, marketed wisely to make him a fortune from young walking hormones with more money than sense.
It's amazing what people won't know about what came before them. A woman i knew asked me once if i would come by her office. She had a student worker, and they had gotten a portable typewrite donated (charity industry company), and she wanted to know if could judge the age. So i immediately opened the case, and looked at the underside of the lid, where companies commonly put their name and address on a typewriter. I pointed out that the address had a zone number, but no zip code (a mail directing device), so it was therefore originally sold before 1963. I happened to look up then, and the student worker had a shocked look on her face. She said: "I never thought about a time before there were xip coes."
