50 years after the disappearance of Paul McCartney's bass guitar, the Franconian guitar manufacturer Höfner is searching worldwide for what is probably the most missing musical instrument in pop history. The Beatle bought the Höfner 500/1 instrument in 1961 in Hamburg and played it as his main instrument for two years - also during the recordings for the first two Beatles albums.
