Looks like older brother was a student at UMass Dartmouth. I've only seen one report saying the younger was at BU so I am unsure if that's correct.

@jespah,
They're saying the same thing on WBZ. There are two uncles into the U.S., and right now WBZ is saying that the older brother was a loner and an outsider, but that the younger brother had integrated well--and that the two uncles say essentially the same thing.

Two small bombs, and an entire city is locked down? Seems to me Boston's finest did the terrorists' job for them.

@Setanta,
Understood! Though I live in Sarasota now, I so identify with the area. For 12 yr, I used to go watch the Marathon at Boylston St and/or go to Patriot's Day Red Sawx game. I used to live in Watertown and shop at the Arsenal Mall. this hits so close to home for me. My deepest sympathy to all the victims families and neighbors. Hell, all Americans are suffering these wounds. All innocent people no matter where they live are suffering for the victims and families.

In an odd sort of way, we're at war. No one will admit it or declare it. Terrorist acts such as this (or mass killers depending on you're POV), put us in a wartime dynamic...until they're caught.

Who's to say there still aren't sleeper cells? We have no idea of the motivation or affiliation. We might never learn that.

@McTag,
Small?

There are almost 180 hurt people. 3 are dead and now, a 4th.

There is a guy with, they believe, an explosive vest on.

I'm staying home and letting the pros do their jobs without worrying about me on top of everything else.

@McTag,

the shutdown was triggered by the last night's manhunt, not monday's bombings...

They have just been eulogizing Sean Collier, the MIT police officer who was killed last night. It seems he was a well-liked, normal guy, too.

@Setanta,
I just saw Sean Collier's photo. He looked like such a young man. This all is so sad. What cause or passion could have motivated this insanity?

The Batman @TheBatman

@Ragman,
Yeah, he looked like a kid to me, too. He was formerly with Somreville PD, where he was the unofficial IT guy. They apparently really regretted losing him to MIT, but understood that he wanted to do "real police work," on the street. MIT colleagues say he worked well with students, and was popular with them.

Gonna go offline; my laptop is overheating and complaining.

We are inside and are safe. Love to all.

@Ragman,
A CBS reporter says that police believe the brothers laid in wait and ambushed Collier as he approached the convenience store they had just robbed, but had left.

@Ragman,
2 hoodlums have shut down Boston....THAT'S impressive!

I am sure Al Qaeda is watching with interest. I dont like Israelis very much but they know that this is letting terror win.
