The NFL and political correctness

There is new talk of having the FCC ban the use of the term "Redskin" (which they point out just as offensive as many other racial slurs) from the air. This would pressure the NFL to rethink it's offensive team name.

This of course set off the predictable backlash against political correctness. But to me the issue isn't political correctness, it is fairness. The problem here is that it is a single race (Native American) that is being targeted. There no other races being mocked in NFL team names.

This problem is easily solved, if the NFL doesn't mind racial slurs as team name, I suggest the following team names,

1) New England Hymies.
2) The Texas Spics.
3) The San Francisco Yellow Peril.
4) The Cincinnati Faggots

If we are going to reject political correctness, then we should reject it fully. It isn't fair to ban slurs against some groups, while allowing them against others.

You know that this is a good idea. When the NFL starts a team called the Burlington Niggers, no one will be able to accuse them of being hypocritical.
