@ossobuco,
I may or may not have forgotten about that High Line high rise but stumbled onto the article this morning. Love Hadid's alienesque design sensibilities.

@tsarstepan,
I don't mine her alienesque sensibility - I think it was the size and displacement issues that bothered me about the Tokyo design.

On the Clooney and Alamuddin house, I looked at the slide show again and it wasn't the house itself that bothered me, but the interior decor, well fixable by them. Plus that's not all that bad either, it was me thinking "meh".

@tsarstepan,
Hmmm, I might have had dinner in there once - I'll have to look around about the building. Not in that room, anyway, or I don't remember it looking like that.

@ossobuco,
I was wrong.. it was the Pan Am Building. I'd been on a short trip in '69, after my father died, to take my mother to see NY and Boston; that was a bit of a debacle and wake up, in that her health was beginning to fail, and she didn't want to go see anything, the beginnings of what would become alzheimers. One evening though, a childhood friend from when we had lived there in NY and her husband took me out to dinner, thus this memory, mostly sad.

@ossobuco,
My firm had its annual Christmas party there last year (in one of their conference rooms). Kind of unexpectedly shoddy. I prefer the Yale Club (with its piano and great outdoor deck even for December).

Why hasn't anyone completely looted the library? There must be some great treasures there.

Christmas eve 1910 Marten Person and his wife turned the key in their home and walked across the lawn to their new house - a copy of an American house his wife had seen a picture of.
The old house has been locked for 100 years and is now opened up.They left everything behind. They only wanted new things.
