Is consciousness(CNS) physical?

essentially how do (neuro)scientists explain CNS from a empirically scientific perspective.Or is CNS just currently explainable w/many proposed theories put forward but really difficult to verify experiementally (Since CNS is fundamentally really hard to measure in the first place).
