I am 18, any way at all I can get a small auto loan w/o a co signer given the following circumstance

How can I get a small car loan [about 3 to 5 thousand] with out a cosigner? I've had a credit card for about two months so I have no credit. Right now I have about $1,400 in the bank and make about $1,300 a month. I do not have any major expenses at this time because I still live with my parents.

Please don't tell me I need a co-signer because that is out of the question... though I know it is preferable. I can probably wait an extra month and save up another $1,200 but I do need a car to get to work.

So my question to you is... "can I get a loan for about $3,000 any way with about $2,000 down?"

I don't really want anything too cheap because my last car was and it almost killed me on the interstate.
