Camera Troubles

I have a Vivitar DVR 528. I saw a thing on youtube where if you take RCA Y-splitters and plug them into your t.v. and plug in your Xbox 360 to the RCA Y-splitters and plug in 3.5mm to RCA (which plugs into the camera), it will record your activity from the t.v.. So I tried it and it went all bezerk. I think you need to change a input/output setting on the camera but all I can find is PAL and NTSC. I'm confused. I need help. (I wanted to do video tutorials for Xbox 360)
