What's this? Quick Quiz for the infants?

It's because they want to know. They need to know to plan the future.

A tax form is like the confessional in lots of respects. Especially for the middlin orders.

@Frank Apisa,

Frank, put me out of my misery, what does your long acronym stand for?

@McTag,
McTag, that isn't an acronym; it's one of Frank's episodes. Wink

@McTag,
What it is Mac is Apisa's wit in response to my using an acronym. I had been telling him, for post after post, that he was marking his own exam papers all the time so that he was always top of the class.

It was probably a little remiss of me to get fed up with typing out "marking your own exam paper" again and again, be that as it may, and the last time I did so I put (MYOEP) after it so that he would know what it meant when I used it thereafter. As one does with SEATO to save typing out South East Asia Treaty Organisation.

I liked MYOEP better than PYOTB (patting yourself on the back) for reasons an English Language specialist will readily understand.

It does not seem to have struck Apisa that before employing such shortcuts it is necessary to familiarise your readers with their meaning before using them.

It may well be a random set of letters but if it has a point to make I am fairly sure that MYOEP will be a suitable response.

Just having a bit of fun with the pompous twit. Don't even think about it. If Spendius wants to try to figure it out...that is his problem.

@Frank Apisa,
You obviously don't get it. I understand your bad case of MYOEP syndrome. If others marked your exam papers you would be bottom of the class so it is necessary for you to mark your own.

@Frank Apisa,
For example--

Quote:
Just having a bit of fun with the pompous twit.

The assertion that you are just having a bit of fun, which we have not a shred of evidence for, quite the contrary, is simply a conversational gambit, as worn out as the knees of a devout priest's trousers, specifically deployed in order to gain the upper hand in a discourse. (MYOEP). All you need do is declare you are just having a bit of fun and you have a home run. No ball, no bat, no pitcher. The ploy, I can't class it as a devious one unless I assume A2Kers are all stupid, is normally brought into play when the position having been backed into is found to be a cul-de-sac. Why else?

It is hardly worth saying in intelligent company that it fails to achieve the objective simply because it is impossible for it to do so. It is very likely it will raise an astonished eyebrow.

And it implies that I am not pulling your chain.

Are you just having a bit of fun the rest of the time or is it only when you're stumped? The former is considerably less respectable that the latter.

And that I'm a pompous twit is simply another version of the seemingly infinite variations of the gambit which, after many decades in pubs, I am well familiar with. It proves you're not a pompous twit, the Houdini blow, and thus have the upper hand in the discourse. (MYOEP).

It strikes me when I contemplate the ubiquity of the attempted trick in relation to other aspects of life that MYOEP is a far bigger problem than is generally realised.

It gives the fullest scope to self-indulgent vanity. One might easily see why habitual practitioners of MYOEP seek to undermine a religion which makes pride the deadliest of all sins. (Errors).

Young, simple-minded ladies usually content themselves with "'cos!!!!!".

I think you are a pompous twit to but then I regard that as a compliment depending on who you're taunting...some folks don't deserve any more then that... Smile

@Fil Albuquerque,
I can't help wondering if Apisa has any evidence that the judges who adjudicate on the matters under scrutiny here are not just having fun.

If he's just having fun, the very last thing anybody actually having fun would ever admit to, why would he deny the constitutional right of anybody else to just be having a bit of fun.

Perhaps he thinks that Apisa fun is the only fun there is. (MYOEP).
