Do you obsessively photograph your food WHILE dining out at restaurants or getting food from food vendors? What do you think of others who obsessively take photographs of their meals while you yourself are trying to enjoy your meal?

Death of Foodstagram? Restaurants Ban Customers From Taking Food Pics

Some restaurants are fighting back against poor photography and the constant barrage of supernova of flashing camera flashes.

Haven't seen it happen like that here.....but I am certainly amazed when I see people constantly posting photos of their bloody food on Facebook .

Anyway, most food looks like crap unless you're a specialist food photographer and use all manner of tricks.

@dlowan,
When most people document their meals, I don't believe their deluding themselves into thinking their making great art but rather attempting to lure others into becoming more adventurous with their dining out experiences.

Most people don't go to the likes of Applebees or the Outback Steakhouse and foodstagram their meals. Those who document their meals tend to go to more intriguing restaurants (and by that I don't necessarily mean more expensive).

I do it and post the photos in the dinner thread here. I don’t check in restaurants on facebook or post photos there because I don’t want any weirdo’s knowing where I am.

@jcboy,
My wife and I do enjoy the photos you post in the dinner thread. You've given that thread a spark by doing so.

@InfraBlue,
In what way? Is it anything like the first swig of a foaming pint of Henderson's Old Rosie's Cloudy after a shift on the blast furnace?

Thank you, we don’t have time to cook tonight so I’ll be ordering a pizza and nice salad for din din.

Stayed tuned in the dinner thread. Cool

@tsarstepan,
I'm not part of the Instagram universe so I haven't seen any of the photos but I am aware of the trend.

I really didn't think it was so much about food as it was "documentia".

I would think restaurants would like the publicity but I totally understand dlowan's point about food photography.

@boomerang,
My husband and I took some food photos back in the seventies, of our own food, three or four photos.

I once considered doing some pizza paintings. (I'd probably be rich now).

I am certainly not sorry for that, in my own home, but I'd be grossed out with cell phone photos to the max in a restaurant.

But - I don't think I'd be comfy in those bastions in the first place.
I follow food and the culture a lot, but boredom is a continuing threat.
