have the fighter extend his arms and then the ref runs his hands all over the fighters body? It's obvious the ref needs to check for a mouthpeice and a cup, but I don't get that full body feel up. Anybody know?

@chaelsonnenfan,
To check for any foreign objects (piercings, weapons, etc.), It may also be to check if they have any vaseline on their body. Fighters can legally only apply vaseline on their face.
