Is that a JOKE,
or r u trying to pull a fast one ??

The subject matter of the conservation qua Mill was English authoritarianism,
whereas we have been discussing close adherence to the Constitution (conservatism),
as distinct from distortion thereof (liberalism).
An orthodox reading of the Constitution,
as advocated by Barry Goldwater and me, cripples expansive domestic jurisdiction
subordinating it to personal freedom, by applying the Bill of Rights.

Conservatism or liberalism r merely measures of variation from
some designated criterion, e.g., a philosophy, or an art style,
or a style of dressing, or varying from any body of rules, or concept.

An exact, precise accountant is conservative
in that he has not varied from, not strayed from
the rules of his profession, whereas a sloppy accountant
strays from those rules, thereby making him a liberal accountant.

A dirty-handed surgeon takes a liberal interpretation
of his profession 's rules of sanitation.

A liberal poker player will allege that he has a flush
with only 4 diamonds, asserting "that 's close enuf" if challenged.

That is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!!!

David

David, if this picture were about 42 of 45 senators who backed a union strengthening piece of legislation receiving money from the unions, I doubt you conservatives would be shouting, “This is Democracy in Action.”

In fact, I suspect you guys would be pissing and moaning about it.
That 'd ONLY be true if the money had been extorted
from union members, who objected to it.

It ' be fine, if it came volitionally from individual members, Frank.

David

I suspect it would be true no matter what.

More likely the conservative wall street broker (and people like Romney) who go in to lie about helping companies to enrich themselves.

Liberals aren't smart enough to lie like conservatives (and FOX News).

It's corruption pure and simple. If they were caught doing it over here they'd go to jail.

I re-iterate:
It is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION.

In England, u can be thrown in jail
(like Tony Martin) for too many good, honorable n admirable things
(like killing burglars, or even for being armed for your own survival)
so, with all respect, those who live in free countries shud not copy
the English model.

We shud have the COURAGE OF OUR CONVICTIONS.

I guess u 'd argue with a surgeon that at least ONE of his hands
shud be dirty on the job so that he 'll compromise
on the rules of sanitation.

@OmSigDAVID,
In America you can be shot for walking down the road with a can of pop and a packet of sweets, and your killer will be branded a hero.

Tony Martin laid in wait, he had murder in mind. He's lucky not to have gone down for considerately longer. Genuine cases of people defending themselves have not resulted in prosecution.

Elected representatives should represent their constituents, not people who give them wads of cash. Otherwise it's corruption.

@izzythepush,
They don't know the difference. "Me gun happy, and the second amendment proves me right!"

They can't see the harm they're doing to the public and their own families.

That's the way of the liberal, ... they just can't see the tremendous harm they are doing.
