@ossobuco,
Well, the cap key is now unstuck, but too late to edit my last post, apologies.

@dalehileman,
No way.

At the least, people could change what they said and make the respondents appear as fools.

The present length of time is a big jump in length from what it used to be.

I have a2k friends whom I much admire. In many ways, we are opposites.
I post my stuff and edit carelessly sometimes, or let it go.
I consider this forum a colloquial talk place.
These friends write perfectly or near perfectly, which is their pleasure.
The friends do not push the reply button until happy with the text.

Me, I think the present allowable time for editing is luxurious.

@ossobuco,
I remember when you couldn't edit after anyone had posted a reply after you, regardless of the time elapsed.

The fact that posts cannot be edited after a certain time window is one of the things I love about this site.

I'm very glad there's a clear record of when I said stuff, especially if it's original stuff.

Ok but incidentally by chance then, ……, are you involved in our Admin

Yes quite so, that was the reaction at another forum in which I participated but eventually they did cave in, increasing it to 3 hrs

Thanks ……., that one absolutely made my day

Yea so do I, often regretting not having read after saving

Somewhat to the immediate disadvantage of the ESL I'd imagine, might however stimulate curiosity

If I were one I'd thank you

?They're to be emulated surely

Perhaps for the quickie. However I've been cut off in the middle of a posting

Maybe I think slower

@dalehileman,
No, I am not in administration, I'm just awake.

I know you have started thread after thread complaining about this, simple observation on my part.

Do you think persistent whining will win the site administration over?

All you are succeeding in is annoying people.

Yes as a matter of fact I've been assured the matter is under serious consideration

@Kolyo,
When the the editing feature was first introduced here, there was no limit to how long a post had been in existence for it to be edited. People routinely grossly abused the system. If criticized, they'd come back hours or even days later and change to post which had been criticized. In large part, the obsession with quoting exactly what someone has said, until the response becomes unreadable (much like the idiot posts Dale here makes) was a response to that abuse--get the original on record before it was edited.

But if i understood correctly, this was a problem for the system with which the site operates. So the site owners decided to make the system more manageable from their point of view by limiting the amount of editing time. Personally, i find this clown an annoying whiner, and despite what he claims, i suspect that administration just ignores him.

@Setanta,
What's so very remarkable, is the time and energy expended by some folk apparently angry at all times about almost everything

If it weren't so obvious anyone finding a particular contributor's postings unsatisfactory might be advised simply not to read them

@dalehileman,
You and Frank should get a room--he's always peddling that "angry" bullshit, too. It's so much easier to allege that someone is angry than to face up the scorn that so many people around here heap on you for your bullshit, isn't it?

@Setanta,
@Dale

Listening to a lecture from Setanta on how to properly and courteously post comments is like listening to Rush Limbaugh lecture on how to be politically even-handed and open-minded.

As for the "scorn" being heaped on you...you gotta realize that "heaping scorn" is Setanta's stock in trade.

You gotta love him for it. It actually hits you as being cute after a while.

That is the way it should be...or two minutes which comes first.

I disagree with Dale on his idea.

For the record, i don't lecture anyone on anything, much less on courtesy. Frank is the shameless liar who makes himself out to be a paragon of courteous virtue. What a crock.

Jeez, you musta put lots of thought into some kind of come-back to Dale's last comment to me...

...and this is the best you could come up with.

C'mon. You were on a roll. Razz Razz Razz

A typically pathetic response on your part. You don't address the criticism, you just make another childish attempt to provoke me. It doesn't work Frank, because i'm too aware of your bullshit.
