@edgarblythe,
Thank you for your honorable service sir.
WWll US Army participated in Normandy awarded Silver Star and 3 Purple Hearts. I read he was wounded on Omaha Beach during D-Day. Then came back for the Battle of the Bulge. Amazing.
May he rest in peace.
I have enjoyed Durning in films and TV for many years. He was like an old friend.
Boy, the good ones just keep leaving us. First Jack Klugman, now, just days later, Charles Durning. Sad.
Rest in Peace.

They made to too ripe old ages. Better than a lot of celebrities can say
@edgarblythe,
One of my all time favorites. He will be missed.
@Sturgis,
He was a very fine actor. VERY fine. Sad to hear he's gone.
@edgarblythe,
Jack Klugman and Charles Durning, the old order passeth. Now waiting for the third shoe to fall.
@nextone,
Sorry, but I mix up Charles Durning with Charles Grodin in a scene with Jeannie Berlin about egg sandwiches.
@edgarblythe,
Are you and Merry competing for the title of Bearer of Good Tidings?
@Finn dAbuzz,
I'm willing to sit on my laurels, Finn. (As long as I don't have to lie upon them . . . at least, just yet.)
The theater community will honor Jack Klugman and Charles Durning by dimming Broadway s lights in back-to-back memorials.
