Able to Know Books by Mail

I've received a few books from people online who I've never met. I'd like to pass a few of them on and dlowan told me something that she used to do that gave me this idea.

Let's start a book club with a twist. I'll mail the book to the next person in line, and so on and so forth.

We take turns buying the book, then you read it, sign it and send it to the next in line.

Any takers?

Sure, as long as you don't break the chain and that you mail it to the next person.

I jonestly think, it would take a too long time: about 10-14 days for the book to get here, months  to read it .... and even more to send it to e.g to Bunnyland Laughing

In a perfect world, I'd jump at the chance... but the world isn't perfect, and my bedside table is stocked for at least the next six months...

in addition to what walter said, what will we do with the books after they get to slappy or gus, and the pages get all stuck together?

I would be in, but the time for books to get here - it is about 2 weeks - might be vey off-putting.

Silly friggin' rabbit. I'll match my library against yours any day of the week. (don't include your comic books)

It isn't the friggin', Gus, that so much worries us - it is doing it on the BOOKS!

what has happened to this idea?

Where's the line?

What books? Any?

Do we just all join a list, print the list and start by mailing to the first person below us on that list? Each book we send would always go to the person below us on the list, and they always send to the person below them, etc?

Is that how it would work? I love the idea.

I've bought hardbacks that shipped for around $7 media mail. Arrived in about a week, but having sold 1200+ items on Ebay I know the mail is persnickety.

If y'all are interested let's do it. Make a line and for the next 2 years lets argue over which books.

Me first!

I'm going to send the next person who lines up (or whoever yells 'dibs' first) my copy of Harvey Mackay's "Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive".

Lesson 58:

Quote:
DIG YOUR WELL BEFORE YOU'RE THIRSTY

When I saw how effectively Bill Jacobs was running Mackay Envelope, I didn't wait for him to cross the hall and ask. I offered him a stake in the business, and one that was considerably larger than 1 percent. Since then, several of my major competitors have taken a run at him, but he's not leaving. He's an owner now.

Should I have waited until I had to make the offer?

Not unless you think it's smarter to buy when everyone else is bidding than when you see value long before it's recognized in the marketplace.
