@farmerman,
Perhaps so... but here are four of my favorite verses from Fitzgerald's translation of Omar Khayyham's Rhubyat ...

Oh, come with old Khayyám, and leave the Wise
To talk; one thing is certain, that Life flies;
One thing is certain, and the Rest is Lies ;
The Flower that once has blown for ever dies.

Myself when young did eagerly frequent
Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument
About it and about: but evermore
Came out by the same Door as in I went.

With them the Seed of Wisdom did I sow,
And with my own hand labour'd it to grow:
And this was all the Harvest that I reap'd-
"I came like Water, and like Wind I go."

Into this Universe, and why not knowing,
Nor whence, like Water willy-nilly flowing:
And out of it, as Wind along the Waste,
I know not whither, willy-nilly blowing.

And later, a few verses on ...

And that inverted Bowl we call The Sky,
Whereunder crawling coop't we live and die,
Lift not thy hands to It for help--for it
Rolls impotently on as Thou or I.

The Ball no Question makes of Ayes and Noes,
But Right or Left, as strikes the Player goes;
And He that toss'd Thee down into the Field,
He knows about it all--HE knows---HE knows

@cicerone imposter,
Because climate change is cyclical is not an argument that humans can't affect it. That would be like arguing that gravity makes water flow down hill so humans can't build dams to change that flow.

I don't think c.i. said anything like that. Quite the opposite, he acknowledged that our (human) production of CO2 is probably a factor. C.i. just says he's wondering how important a factor it is. I wonder the same thing.

@Lustig Andrei,
You need wonder no more if you merely look at the science and what the scientists that study it say. It's pretty convincing.

But it's so much easier to argue without bothering to rely on scientists. Sedimentary rocks aren't really created by sediment because the fact that sedimentary rocks are found on mountains proves that wrong. Gravity proves I am right. (I can just ignore all the other evidence because science doesn't know what it is talking about and a theory doesn't have to be the best answer for all evidence.) Clearly FM will argue that sedimentary rocks are formed by sediment but he is only doing so to protect his government grants.

@BillRM,
keeping ALL pollutants out of the air is the "good housekeeping" we should all tand for. Many of these gases (CO2 included) are ACID FORMERS and our lakes are testimant to these airosols.

@georgeob1,
Being a major "lapsed Catholic" I would enjoy the poesy but not any message from that.
