The lake of Texcoco was big and Cortès used a fleet to attack Tenochtitlan. The most important remains of the lake are in Texcoco county:

@reasoning logic,
What is flirtation but the manipulation of emotions in others?

The Campus of Universidad Autónoma Chapingo is at Texcoco.
Chapingo is the most important public university for agricultural engineering and agriculture-related careers:

Do you find this to be an artistic value that you hold?

What's really impressive about Chapingo are the series of murals by Diego Rivera in several parts of the campus, but mostly the Rivera Chapel.

The alliance between workers an peasants:

Land distribution:

The blood of revolutionary martyrs fertilizes the land:

The Chapel, a red star on the ceiling:

A teacher of mine studied at Chapingo, he often said he learned more from the murales than from his teachers.

@reasoning logic,
rl, You don't have logic, and you are intruding into a thread that has nothing to do with what you're posting. Please LEAVE! Start another thread.

Are you suggesting that Mexico can not be included into my frame of reference?

What would you like to title this new thread? I was think something in the neighborhood of how some Latinos like to distance themselves from reality the same way cicerone imposter does.

Would this be OK?

@fbaezer,
I saw developments like these when I was in Puerto Rico, not quite as large.. This might sound like a dumb question, but is there a reason there are so few choices in colour? Can people repaint or are there condo board rules that forbid it? Can you landscape or plant a tree?

@Ceili,
In the photo, a bunch of the houses aren't color coated yet.
I have never liked tracts, though I have done some designing re them. Serves me right, now I live in one, albeit this place seems to have people who want to make the places their own, and do so.

That photo Pancho posted is a classic.

@ossobuco,
By classic, I mean that people who follow urban planning bla bla, recognize some photos from early tracts. This photo is easily as strong.

@Ceili,
In a few years, all those houses ("eggs" we call them here, since they're so tiny) will have different colors. And some will have another floor, I bet.

These are relatively new (2009) housing developments by Infonavit (acronym for the Institute of the National Fund for Workers' Housing).

South of Texcoco, the county of Chalco, also centered around a town swallowed recently by the city.

Ixtapaluca is not alone in these kind of urban developments:

We're about to finish the virtual tour.
The two poorest counties, in the eastern outskirts of the megalopolis are left.

One is Valle de Chalco-Solidaridad, south of Chalco. Made mostly of irregular settlements:

If something defines Valle de Chalco-Solidaridad, it is black water flooding:
