Eastern wall. Contemporary world.
The atom as the center of a new cosmovision. On the top left, the red star of Socialism; on the top right, an open book. In the roots, on the left side, the industrial and revolutionary Mexico; on the right side, rural, traditional, but also revolutionary Mexico.

A partial view of "the Isles", the big explanade in front of the Dean's building. To the right, the Faculty of Filosofía y Letras. And behind it, a small park, students of that school nicknamed "Park Eros".

This is a very partial view of the Faculty of Architecture. It's divided in different "workshops":

And this is the entrance to my alma mater, also the school where I taught for 10 years, the Faculty of Economics:

Gee, I forgot to say that UNAM's main campus is so big (no wonder it is called University City), you can't possibly walk it through, unless you are an athlete.

This is a map of Pumabús, the inner bus line.

http://www.arq.unam.mx/edcontinua/imagenes08/planonvo.jpg

Most of the students that arrive by car, have to park at the stadium and then get the bus.

@fbaezer,
Naturally, this interests me. When I was at the site, and didn't really go through it, I had no idea I would later be very interested in architecture. But... I did notice buildings in the city.

This is "Humanities Tower 2".
When I was a student is was "Sciences Tower", and next to it, the Faculty of Sciences (Physics, Mathematics, Actuary, Biology), but it moved to another part of CU:

As you can see, the building on the right looks like a serpent, ending in an auditorium, with an outer mural.

The mural is by José Chávez Morado, it's named "The Conquest of Energy".

All I had to do to watch it, during my first semester as a student, was to look left, since the classroom was all windows.

... and different sporting grounds:

Architecturally, the frontones are notable.

Damn, I was forgetting the Faculty of Dentistry (perhaps because my ex-wife studied there), but it does have a nice mural by Francisco Eppens:

@fbaezer,
Hah, that's where our friend studied, and the one place I went in, at least for a few feet, or I think I did.

Before leaving the old part of the campus (we still have to visit the faculties of Political Science, Commerce and Sciences, plus the places of research, post-graduate studies, and cultural centers), a must is the Olympic Stadium, originally built in 1952, and where the ceremonies and athletic competitions of the 1968 Olympic Games were held.

The stadium, full, at a soccer game:

http://www.mexicodesconocido.com.mx/assets/images/ruta_estadios_olimpico_cu_ago11.jpg

And the mural by Rivera in its entrance:

http://www.mexicodesconocido.com.mx/assets/images/ruta_estadios_olimpico_cu_mural_rivera_ago11.jpg

The mural was not made for the Olympics, but for the National University Games of 1952.

Oddly enough, the stadium was originally built for American football:

Behind the stadium, the Botanic Garden of UNAM:

And, in the middle of the garden, the Seminary Unit (where the world academic big shots give lectures to a chosen few, or discuss with them), from where the picture is taken:
