hmmm, I guess I like the organicness of Chihuly's stuff.
Wow! Those are blown glass?
Wow! Those are blown glass?
well, they're glass. Not sure how much is blown.
These are all gorgeous. I remember seeing something like the glass bridge in an installation at the St. Louis art museum. Glass is something that has an amazing capacity to trigger the "ooohhh preeetttyyy" parts of the human mind. I've been wanting to take a glassblowing class, but they are so expensive...
I love glass work. Sparkly, light-refracting, colorful, brilliant. To me, a glass show is like a roomful of oversized gemstones.
Jon Kuhn is one of my favorite glass artists. And of course Chihuly... mmmmm, exquisite, amazing, gorgeous.
Nice link, Cinnesthesia. I had never seen anything by Jon Kuhn. Beautiful work.
wow that Blaschka! the jellyfish on the website is absolutely amazing.
I just wish I'd known about the exhibition as it is only 30miles from here

missed it
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who have posted links here. I adore glass and have recently become addicted, thanks to an antique Murano paperweight given to me by a very special man in my life. Beautiful work displayed here!
WOW! what a beautiful collection. Very nice

glass was a medium that many diorama artists used to prepare the side pieces for museum scenic dioramas. Many things like flowers leaves, even sticks and rocks were actually made of glass. When I was a kid i hung around our county museum and the diorama artists consisted of these 2 guys, one guy did matte painting and the other was a glass artist. A taxidermist was off somewhere else stuffing the animals and the two diarama guys would put the scene together with paint and other materials , but a lot of glass was used. i have no idea why glass was chosen, I never asked that obvious question, I mostly followed the painter and started my interest in arts of all kind (even the harmonica, which the painter played really well)
