Housefly settled on the corner of my windows and haven't moved for 2 hours

I wonder why these animals don't get bored. You might say they do not act like humans because feeling "bored" or "boring" is human thing. But, please think of a dog. A dog hardly does the action of "not moving" from the place where he or she settles on. Why flies are so patient?

It's not patience.

They've got a LOT fewer brain cells than dogs. They are mainly stimulus-response critters. Something stimulates them (a hand moving to swat them, the smell of something icky they like to eat, a potential mate), they act. It doesn't, they don't.

Also, if it hasn't moved in 2 hours, it might be sleeping or dead.

depending on where you live, if it's getting cooler insects start slowing down as cold affects their metabolism

Some insects/flies slow down, too, after they got contact with insecticides ...

Yeah the flies down here really slow down a lot after I smoosh them on the screen.
