Pinning moths and butterflies.

Hey everyone,

I'm new to entomology and just started collecting and pinning insects over the last 6 months. I can pin beetles, flies, bugs and the like with no problem, but I am having trouble with the process of pinning moths and butterflies. I end up destroying more specimens than I successfully preserve. Also, I can't seem to be able to get a hold of many at one time.

Any advice?

Thanks!

@New2entomology,
I've never pinned a bug in my life, so I have no first-hand experience. But here's a link: http://www.goliathus.cz/en/howto_spread.php

Looks like it's a long and tedious process.

@rosborne979,

There is my problem, I've been trying to spread them without relaxing them first. I'll give it a shot. And yes, pinning any insect is tedious but the results are worth it.

Thanks!
