How to Replace a DC Power Jack?

Hi Friends,

DC power jacks have spring contacts to secure physical and electrical contact with an insertion type barrel connector. Over time and repetitive reinsertion, the strength of the springs and contact will diminish. Corrosion will eventually render the jack unusable and it will require replacement. So, what steps have follow to replace a DC power jack, share in this forum.

Thanks a lot!

@Rodger Hooks,
Throw the old appliance away (I mean actually recycle or freecycle by that). Buy a new version of said appliance. Done deal. Help the economy out. Win win!

@Rodger Hooks,
So Rog iI looked up "dc power jack" and found there are scores if not hundreds off different kinds. It's as if you ask, "How do I replace the valve stem on my car"

It depends entirely on what kind of car

Incidentally how does one compact such a link, I know it can be done
