After 25 years can a claim br filed?

A doctor gave me a drug in 1987 that I didn't need, and I believe it was incompetence on his part to give me the drug. Stopping the drug 18 years later caused hypothyroidism, but it wasnt disgnosed until 2011 when the symptoms became very bad. I havent responded to the treatment and have been through hell, and am going to lose my job if my disability runs out. After 25 years can I file a claim or lawsuit against the doctor or drug manufacturer that did this to me?
