How safe are my motorcycle tires while riding?
I bought a motorcycle a year ago. But I get worried that an accident can occur anytime. Is there a way of checking and maintaining my tires? I need to know.

@Sheddy,
They are as safe as car tires if properly maintained. However, that being said, motorocycles themselves are more risky in an accident or if there is blowout - particularly if it's a front tire. Just like car tires, they need proper inflation, balancing and attention to wear. If tread is worn, they should be replaced.

Oh yes, never drive into a high spam area.

@Sheddy,
Keep the tread high, check patterns based on use.. Long pattern tread slits are for road use and water dispersal, I mention this because it is important your tread depth and troughs are in good condition or else the center line on motorways, even normal roads can be a slight concern, given water can cause a complete lack of grip and a wheel slip, left/right, it is rare and unlikely but the roads are not entirely calculable and convergences of situation can catch you off-guard.

Aquaplaning is a major concern on worn tires, never ever let the tire wear down to bare plain rubber, the wearing to internal wiring is a death trap even worse.

Good deep tread.. And check for perishing, if it gets bad on the sidewalls consider replacement.

@Sheddy,
Hello Friends,

These are some ways to check your tires. Although accidents can happen anytime. You just have to be very extra careful when riding a motorcyle. It is better if you have insurance for you motorcyle and for yourself such as medical compensation.
1. Replace your tires sooner rather than later and/or at the first sign of dry rotting (cracking), or when you see your treads are worn shorter than 0.3 inch (2mm).
2. Check your tires regularly for embedded objects and have them removed by a qualified professional as soon as possible.
3. Pay close attention to the air pressure in your motorcycle tires. You should always keep them inflated to the manufacturer's specifications. Keep in mind that the air pressure recommendations can differ between the front and back tires.
4. Drive your motorcycle slowly and cautiously for the first 100 miles (259 km) to break in new motorcycle tires.
5. Use a mild detergent specially formulated for tires when you wash your tires.

Thanks and Regards,
Umang Kumar
