I'm at 8-6 through Sunday. Not bad for picking my favorite teams from the 70s.

By my tally George and Cowdoc are at 11-3 followed by AndyD at 10-4 and several players at 9-5.
Everyone is going with Baltimore tonight. George is picking Oakland while Cowdoc is choosing San Diego. One of those two guys will win.

I went 11-5 this week. That's what spendius (my devoted follower) would have
scored if he had been playing.

When you figure in the spread, I drop to 8-8. The Eagles, Vikings, and Lions
failed to cover.

@The Smart Money,
The only reason I played SM was to prove that point. I'm glad I did because I got watching some of the games. 3 a weekend. That helped me fit a few more pieces into the jigsaw of American life. I've nearly finished Hofstadter, Aaron and Miller's giant compendium on the history of a republic. That is a lot of pieces. CBS News, Fox News (isn't that embarrassing), the music channels and this site. I don't go on any other sites. I like scenes of your vast empty wilderness. I know there are people there to hold the camera but as long as there are none in view it's okay. Scenes where people are in view usually make me laugh. I tend to fit their faces to names I know on here. I had wande nearly right before I saw his grinning mush displayed for all the world to see. I've seen pictures of osso too. And rjb. Oh--and ci. He daren't play on here but he predicted I would finish near the bottom and I won the Title two years in succession. For which I claim no credit. He also advised selling gold at $1,450. I saw fm too. Nothing at all like his avatar. He once predicted the result of a game the day after it was played. What I mean is that he told us he had predicted the result before the game but only informed us the day after. Whether he would have told us if he had predicted incorrectly is not a matter I can safely adjudicate on. I could bet on it but, like with God, it would be unprovable.

I couldn't help feeling when watching the games why the US puts so much sporting energy into what are now provincial activities and thus starve funds from those sports which the rest of the world prefers to play. No American in the last four of the tennis. Golfers slipping down the rankings. Boxers too. The greatest nation on earth struggling to qualify for the knock-out stages of the World Cup.
Our racehorse trainers popping over for a pay day without much reciprocation.

I'm a bit down in the mouth though because rjb didn't pm me this year. I think Tico might have slipped the sliding tackle in on him.

Using the spreads was the only way to go. Then the players would all be in a heap around .500 and glued to their TV sets for every point scored, tackle missed, fumbles and conversion kicks.

There is dancing in the streets of Salmon, Idaho, today as local boy Cowdoc wins week #1. He finished at a fine 13-3. George was right behind at 12-4.
AndyD, Lionatmerx and Wandeljw were in a tie for 3rd at 11-5.
Ehbeth, Rhys, Ragman, McGentrix, Edgar, Coastalrat, Tico and Johnboy scored 10-6's. Region, JPB, Jespah and Osso came in a 9-7 while Mysteryman broke even at 8-8. The best ESPN guy was 12-4 while the worst was 7-9.
Coin-Toss was 10-6.

Round 1 goes to you, George, but it won't take much for me to catch up with you! Smile

@CowDoc,
For the intervening days, I'll add some tidbits, photos of Cowdoc and Miz Cowdoc, and, in compensation, one of me not at my best.

I could put these on CJane's photo thread, but seems more in the loop for here.
I well get it players don't want their photos up, and that is a given.

The docs and I are ok on my showing us..
we met for lunch and laughed at length.
We probably disagree on everything, or maybe not quite.

For Week #1, by the way, the 18 players picked 16 games each = 288. As a group we were correct 62.8% of the time.
