OK!
With spring so near at hand the weather was undecided, the sky didn't seem to be able to make up it's mind whether it wanted to be thoroughly cloudy or the kind of rich, jewel-like blue for which the Australian sky is famous.
We had quite a bit of rain over the days, at one point the water of the bay and the sky above it merged into a wall of slate grey.
But yesterday it cleared, and I went for a long, long walk. I set out in my blue jeans and comfy walking shoes, with my satchel slung over one shoulder of my bright red T-shirt, and
walked. I explored the streets, with their rows upon rows of cosy little weather board houses, those nearer the water on stilts; the stores, some very good bargains to be had down there; and of course the beach.
And so yesterday afternoon I found myself sitting on the beach just as the sun angled towards the west, illuminating the few white puffy clouds to glorious, golden magnificence. The water sparkled where it was touched by the sun and elsewhere it reflected the clear, soulful blue of the sky.
While the crisp breeze toyed playfully with my long, loose hair, I sat with my bare feet in the sand and considered the view, but, when I looked in my satchel, lo and behold I realised I had brought with me a pair of paint brushes with no paint and a sketchbook with no pencils! Fortunately I also found a box of delicious Swiss chocolates which I brought out and nibbled (to the interest of several Sea Gulls) while I imprinted the view on my memory for future reference.
As the sun dipped lower, before the day had a chance to darken, I picked myself up, brushed myself off, and started to stroll casually in the direction of a hot dinner. I stopped for a while to chat with a lovely old Greek man who tried to convince me to stay and watch the sunset with him, but my dinner beckoned, besides which I thought it might be slightly creepy to find myself alone in the dark with a strange old man, harmless though he seemed.
I have returned with much poetry written in my recent leisure hours by the beach, some of which I shall submit for your entertainment here at A2K.
