Monitor won't turn on

Hello Friends,

I shut down my computer and monitor every couple of days. One day i went to go put the monitor back on and it doesn't show any picture. If i push the menu button it says "1: Auto Detect(Analog Input), In power save mode, Press computer power button or any key on keyboard or move mouse" But, none of those suggestions gets the monitor to show the picture. The system is working because i hear the windows sound when the computer is starting. Please help me figure out a way of troubleshooting to see if the problem is with my graphics card or my monitor.

Thanks a lot,
Duncan

@Duncan Jones,
Trying not to be a cynic but you never returned to your old motherboard thread to indicate whether or not it was fixed. Is this monitor a part of that exact same computer?

You never return to any of your own open threads. Please keep in mind call and response spammers are not welcome here.
