hi, I have a door in my family room leading to the backyard that i am having a small problem with. It is a regular steel door that is in pretty good condition despite being almost 15 years old. the problem is that when I open it, after I open it more than half way, the bottom of it gets to low and hits the hard wood floor preventing it from opening any more. This has been getting more difficult to deal with lately and i was wondering if anyone could think of a solution to this. thanks.

Sound as if it is saging. Check the hinges.

Can you shave a wee bit off the bottom of the door. Has the wood floor buckled slightly? Has the door frame settled?

what do you suggest I do if I think that the hinges are sagging?

Impossible to say without checking. You may be able to reset or even possibly have them replaced.
