A clerk was alone inside the Atlantis Corner convenience store in Huntsville, Ala.
when an armed criminal entered and demanded cash.
The clerk responded by retrieving a gun and shooting the robber,
who then fled the scene. The wounded criminal was captured by police
a short time later, but died before reaching a hospital.
Police suspect the criminal was involved in several other recent
convenience store robberies. An investigation revealed the robber
to have a 2005 conviction on a third-degree robbery charge for
which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
